OUT OF ICE

The film below, by Rob Page (edited and produced by Rob Page and Elizabeth Ogilvie), provides an insight to the processes and thoughts behind the making of Out of Ice. Like the installation itself, it invites the viewer to reflect on the nature of ice and the swiftly changing experience of living in glacial landscapes.

The intractable progress of climate change is explored in this work, where the immediate impact is clearly felt by communities and ecosystems at the earth’s extremities. This is a narrative that is often overshadowed by the effect of these changes world-wide (the changing temperatures, rising sea levels). Here we are offered a glimpse of the beginning, where fragile and ancient landscapes are changing rapidly as the ice melts.
